Very nice '68. We used to own a green 68 with white seats...your photo brings back fond memories. Congratulations on your find _________________ Neil.

I'm a former Canuck from Hamilton and as you can see now in Baja Mexico.
Visited family in Welland and Port back in "84" and during my two weeks there only saw one air cooled bug that never moved from the front yard where it sat. Now this thread shows what I had missed.
I have been a VW mechanic/parts house owner for 28 yrs. Built my share of stock/performance engines...ran a NHRA legal VW dragster in the 1/4 mile 10.02 at 133 mph with a small engine.
Later built a 1776cc Turbo (balanced/blueprinted) for my 70 T1 bug.
Today have a similiar engine in my 66 T1 bug Calif car.
Since I'm getting up there in yrs will sell it soon along with my Snap on tool box and the assorted small parts for a bug.
Any prospects out there? Steve

Hi fellow Canucks!
I'm from Guelph, Ontario and don't yet own a bug but looking for a project to get me started in the $1000 ballpark. I haven't done much car repair in my lifetime but figured this would be a fun way to get into it.
Let me know if you know of any good deals around southern ontario.
Cheers! |

Hey! Glad to find a friendly thread going for us Canadians!
Busy working on putting my 71 mexibeetle in shape for the trip back to T.O. Currently in the heart of Mexico for another 9 months so a bit of time. Great scene down here for the bugs. Been to 3 car shows with well over 200 beetles at each. Managed to take 2nd in 70-79 custom at the last one
Any suggestions out there for the import? I know the 15 year rule and don't touch the factory suspension. Anything else I can prep for?
Since these the roof carrier and billet running boards are on plus tons of mechanicals. Parts cheap and easy here, just stop at any of my four favoirte stores and can get anything new pretty much. Custom stuff mostly coming in from CB Performance.

Hello from Langley, BC.
Started with this in April 2011
And finished up 48 hours before the GCVWS on Aug.28 2011, and she now looks like this:
Check out our super rare Safari window. Not one other beetle at the GCVWS had one.

I was at the GCVWS and saw your front safari setup...very nice. Is that a Wolfgang International product?
Great to see another old Beetle restored to better than new _________________ Neil.

A big thank you to the 1432nd Squadron for your first show today. The weather you ordered was fantastic, the people attending the show were alll extremely friendly, and there were many wonderful vehicles on display, both air and watercooled. Congratulations on a job well done! I'm already looking forward to next year's show. _________________ Stop worrying about how much your car will be worth when you are dead and build it to make you happy! |

How long ago did you purchase this car? My wife and I, oh I'd say back in 2005 or 2006 went to look at that very same car! we ended up buying one that we found here locally, and after owning/selling a couple, I ended up with what you see in my Avatar. I built that one from scratch...
Just curious as to what your findings were with that bug you purchased? The few things that come to mind were that it had some sort of electrical issue. I can't recall what it was... And I think the driver's side floor pan had come loose from the tunnel. I was a classic VW newby at the time and knew nothing about these cars. |

Another guy from Ontario... that's my summer daily driver ('69 Sunroof), and I have a pile of other Beetle/ACVW projects ranging from a '53 Zwitter to a '72 914.
Anyone from around the Belleville area on here? I saw a bunch of Beetles here last summer but only got to meet a few of the owners.
(My '69 and my '73 Super)
(My '66)
And my '53 sitting where I discovered it earlier this winter. _________________ '60 Canadian Standard, '64 Bug, another '64 Bug, '66 Bug, '69 Sunroof Bug, '69 GT3 Bug, '71 Super, '72 Super, '73 Canadian Custom, '74 Love Bug, '83 Mexi Bug, '85 Cabrio, '94 Mexi Bug, '99 New Beetle, '02 New Beetle Turbo S, '03 New Beetle VR6. Hello everyone,
My name is Giuliano, looking to getting into the VW scene.. I've always wanted a bug but due to the lack of knowledge and time to work on one I havent been able to buy one, that might change very soon and I'm excited to get more involved in the scene here in Ontario,
Thanks |

Rolling a lowered 62 rag top type 1. Have a 67 type 1 in the shop, building a 2180 cc for it. May see the road this year but not holding my breath. Love the west coast. |
