I've done a quick search & couldn't find any previous posts.
I'm looking for a reasonably priced headling kit for my '51.
I'm not after total authenticity but something that looks about right at a casual glance.
I see TMI do a kit, any others that people can suggest ?
Thanks

Hello-
I just had a cloth headliner installed in my '57. Here are a few lessons I learned.
1) The cloth headliners get dirty just looking at them. Ask WW if you should put scotch guard or whatever on before the install.
2) Get someone who knows how to do a cloth headliner. Most people don't do these, or don't do them very often. You'll probably have to pay more, but it will be worth it in the end.
3) The standard headliner comes with the cloth for the door pillars, but my understanding is that the original install would have had the seat material in those areas. If you have the money, I would suggest that you do the seats at the same time so everything matches and you install the more durable seat material in these 'easy to get dirty' areas.
Good luck.

You want a good headliner?

$450 or so I think Mr. Copp told me.
4 pieces ( Beetle). Make sure you have someone who knows how to install one though. He mentioned today, that someone from CT sent his whole bus to them and/or their sub contractors to have it done properly.
It's a tough job to do right.
Ever wonder how VW did all those headliners, thousands a day? I do.

And that's real German wool. 'Rub' TMI's and it will come off in your hand. _________________ CH³NO²

Thanks guys. I'm learning here.
I'm can't afford total authenticity so, fabulous as it looks, $450 is out of the question.
Not to mention I'm in the UK!
Any more info/suggestions gratefully rec'd _________________ Martin Rogers |

| John, you've had your WW headliner for several years now. Any issues with the headliner "coming apart in your hand?" I ain't spending $450 either. |

Try it. Anybody with TMI headliner rub it and tell Woody what happened. It's a cheap backing cloth with fuzz on one side. Very cheap. _________________ CH³NO²
