|
|
Hello,
Finally I have the guts to start with my '52 panelvan. It's not an important thing for now but I just want to know how it works. I have been told that a Barndoor is easier to install straight axle than a 'normal' splitbus. I have a 181 wich I'm parting out. The gearbox is a AK but with reductionboxes. Can I just put some beetleaxles on the 181 gearbox and put it in my barndoor for straight axle? I know its not so easy as written but do I have the right ideas about it? I've been told a beetle has the same width as a barndoor?
My short question: How can I build straight-axle into my panelvan and is it possible to use a 181 gearbox?
Thanks!

| Any straight short axle bug tranny will go right into your Barn all you have to do is put on a bus nose cone and the correct nose cone tranny mount then it is all good 85 on the freeway you know Fuck it drive it like you stole it! |

| If you want to use the Thing trans you will have to flip the ring and pinion to the other side. The reduction boxes will give you 4 reverse gears and 1 forward. You would probably be better off just buying a rebuilt trans for your bus. |
