i think its 2". maybe smaller. i really dont remember right now, id have to go look at it. it was either go and buy one of those pre made baja bumpers for 60 or so bones, or make one myself. so i kept the 60 bones for food and gas money and some weld wire and built it up and went to oco a few times and it held up great.
i put in an oil cooler with fan and thermostat.. new bosh alt, and bosh blue coil, new battery.. its commin along. it feels like my cars running off 3 cyl.. so i have to look into that some more. maybe gew new plug wires and plugs.
my computer recently blew up so i lost ALL of my pictures of the build ups and desert trips from both bugs.. im pretty bummed but ill have more to start from when i get my computer back up and running. _________________ CUSTOM OFF ROAD FABRICATION FOR VW TYPE 1.. Beautiful offroad car man. I like the sticker too, and the welding on the cage looks top notch too ( I'm no expert though, Believe me.). Way better then the junk I grind smooth from my gasless MIG.
I get so jealous looking at you guy's ( or girl's ) cars. There are no offroad VW's in my area, and its nearly impossible to find a car in my area from '67 that's in any kind of acceptable condition. A car like that would cost a king's ransom in Elk county. All the bugs I find for an affordable price are rusted out old hunks of garbage. Thumbs up man. Have fun ripping across whatever terrain lays in front of you ( you'll traverse it way faster than in a truck ) and don't sweat the small stuff. |

Hey man....
Does that rear bumper is just for wrapping the engine so it won´t hit anything?
(excuse the stupid question im rlly new into this)
Does the engine is supported just by the trans? or does it has any kind of supports over there?
I really like the rear one, probably the best I´ve seen (for me). Those tubes really make it look strong and sturdy.
Would you mind posting more pics so I can see where does it attachs?
Thanks! |
