Hi all, I just picked up a 71 914 without an engine. I saw a few posts similar to my question but none that answered it. So here goes, what VW engines will bolt in without any adapters? Reason I ask is I have a T-3 Square that I thought about using the engine from, as well as a 74 bus engine that I can get. Also how about the trans from the t-3? How much modification is there to put the engine and trans in? Not worried about wiring, just mounting. Thanks in advance.
Heres a shot of her!

Why not install the proper W code motor in it. It is very similar to the 411 motor with different heat exchangers. Different tranny? not many 5 speeds are set up for a mid engine layout not the shift rod set up a 914 has.
Used 80 hp 1.7L can be had for pretty cheap and use a 914 type flywheel so the starter works. A 74 bus engine has what 65hp? I guess it would be fun to drive around in sort of. _________________ 70 Ghia Black convert-9/69 build date-stock w/133k 1600 SP-barn find now with a rebuilt tranny and engine
