Well I havent picked it up yet. The banks were closed so I couldnt get the money out but I am going down monday to pick it up. Its a 1969 bug. Everything is there. All it needs is a new ignition switch for it to run. Im just going to install a new one when I pick it up. Its not to hard is it?
I wasnt even on the market for a new bug. Just couldnt pass it up for 600$. |

Good deal, been awhile since I've seen an unmolested engine compartment that still runs. Keep us updated!

But what's that thing to the right of the fuel filter, never seen anything like it. |
Thats the "Throttle valve positioner". An early California anti-smog device. More or less a vacuum controled dashpot. |

Your fuel filter is sitting in a dangerous position! Before you start it up you might want to check and or replace those fuel lines if they are old. Dont forget to use hose clamps on the lines. If you get fuel spraying on your distributor you will more than likely see a lot of smoke...... _________________ Never drive faster than your Angel can fly

Nice find. I understand why you could not pass it up.
You never see anything in that condition in NJ for that money !
Good Luck. |

Looks pretty solid, nice find! Who says you can't find a good bug for $600 anymore! _________________ 1964 Type 1 Vert "Ruby"

thanks. So I went and picked it up today. Had to hot wire the ignition and jump it but it started and ran amazingly smooth. Out of the 3 bugs I have owned it ran the best. Well I drove it the 110 mile journey home cruising 70mph the whole way. The heater even works! Very good too. I am so happy on this purchase. Cant wait to wash and wax it tomorrow. Best 600$ I have ever spent.
Oh and it even had the original owners manual from 1969 in the glove box lol. |
