Anyone have pics of front sway bars mounted on top of the control arms on a standard?
I am looking for more sway bar ground clearance and heard from various sources that this is a common method to gain clearance.

Thanks

I have dropped spindles on my 69 and this is my set up:

I don't think I've ever seen them start on the top of the control arm and then wrap around. And yes, those bolts have been turned up.

Whiteline makes an adjustable swaybar that mounts above.

Unfortunately, Whiteline told me they stopped making that sway bar due to lack of demand.

Keep an eye on that clamp bolt nearest the shock. Over time they settle a bit on the lower control arm and may come in contact with the shock body.
Mine did. I turned it back to the down position.

Good Luck.

So was there any resolve to this? I have an issue with dropped spindles on my standard beetle that the bottom mounted sway bar is hitting the rim when I turn the wheel a bit. Can the sway bar (same as pictured above) be mounted on the top of the bottom trailing arm? Didnt wanna take it all apart and try if this wasnt a thing.

On Formula Vees one of the set of torsion leaves is replaced with a solid rod. So the sway bar is inside the front beam. On a full body VW, you might need to add coilover shocks to make up for the stiffness of the missing leaves.
