I find it interesting what my friends wifes do for a hobby and wonder what other VW guys/gals better half's do while we are thrashing some vintage VW metal in the garage. If your lucky your better 1/2 is into VW's too.
My wife loves counted crosstitching and makes them for friends, family and co-workers. Very tedious and I would never have patience for it. She also does yoga several times a week.
A friend's wife makes jewlrey, crafts and peanut brittle. She sells nearly everything she makes at the factory she works at. Another one makes beer can candles.
What's yours do? _________________ 1979 Type-2 Westfalia “Sandy”

My wife's hobby is shopping. I have tried to get her to do some different hobbies so she will stop bitching about me being out in the shop. _________________ The honey-do list put my project on hold....... |

My wife is graduating on May 6th. She is majoring in Business with a minor in Finance. She has worked and gone to school full time for the last 4 years. She works 40+ hours a week and goes to school Mon, Tues, and Thurs. nights not to mention all the time she spends on homework and studying. I'm really proud of her.

She cuts the lid off an unopened beer then fills the can with citronella wax and a wick then sets the lid back on. It looks and feels like a full beer can but you just pull the lid off and light it. I will post a picture tonight when I get home. Very cool to have on the patio table to ward off mosquitos. _________________ 1979 Type-2 Westfalia “Sandy”

1. Starting projects/hobbies and then not finishing them.
2. Shopping ebay and craigslist for things we end up not buying and/or don't need. Perhaps this is therapeutic.
3. Browsing online for home decor items such as upholstery fabric, window coverings, rugs etc. How can you buy something like that by looking at a picture on your computer?
She's pretty damn agreeable when it comes to the VWs. We're probably 14k into the Westy so far and 4k into the bug, and neither one even rolls right now! |

Not MY wife.
My FRIEND'S wife makes the beer can candles after she empties them. That's why HE enjoys her hobby so much. His hobby is making metal spiders, critters, suns, windchimes, firepits and waterfalls mostly from stainless steel.
I wish my wife would drink. She says hangovers hurt more than they used to and she hardly ever drinks. At least she's a cheap date when she does. _________________ 1979 Type-2 Westfalia “Sandy”

Oh, OK...In that case my better half is very helpful with the VW hobby. She also in her spare time takes our Border Collie to the local nursing homes to visit the residents. She also trains dogs for agility competition. _________________ Ryan

My wifes hobbies are working on photo albums and driving the bugs.
She says " You can fix em and I'll drive them".At least she dosnt complain too much on me dumping money into them, just bugging me about when I will get the next one done so she can drive it. |

Similar to the OP, my wife does counted cross-stich like a fiend! Would that I had her obsession. But then again, I'm $6000 into the 72 1/2 SB and still not done and she has completed about a dozen projects in that time, some of which are striking works of real art.
And her whole cost for one of these projects is the cost of a repro dash.
I'd get a cheaper hobby, but I can't think of one that I can drive. :^)

Technically I am the other half because mine does most of the resto work. But aside from my other half working on the VW's he ummm polishes the fuchs with the really nice buffer I bought him, watches MXC and UFC and changes the oil in the 8 running cars...
I sing opera, paint, crochet, knit and make jewelry. I also LOVE the VWs and only care that he's in the garage when we're supposed to be somewhere important 2 hours ago and I keep getting, "hold on baby, one more minute..." in 10 minute intervals.

My wife designs and makes kids' clothes to sell on ebay. She is also part of "Boutique Pop!" and has some things listed on their site.
Plus she's a stay-at-home, pardon me, "work-at-home" mom. I dunno if that counts as a hobby. _________________ Shawn
