I thought I would post a picture of what we found while doing some rust and body damage repair a few months ago. Anyone else find some interesting stuff while doing your repairs?

I found a shiny-as-new 1967 dime in my '67 Ghia. It was stuck down alongside the passenger seat...maybe fell out of someone's pocket back when the car was brand new. _________________ '63 Ragtop (current)

just a couple days ago i was putting on a used bug front hood . wouldnt ya know it i dropped one of the bolts n washers down that deep hole " FRIG !!!" none of my magnets on a stick would fit down there as its a curved hole / cavity .....so i made this little magnet on a wire tool , first i got the washer , next try i got the bolt . so while i was it a tried the other side of the car but didnt find anything else .....
i coiled it up to keep in my tool box but you get the idea
will only work steel / magnetic stuff .

| The channels below the hood hinges are like the Bermuda triangle of the VW bug. Things fall down there over the years never to be seen or hear from again .Only a chance rust repair will allow these items to once again see the light of day. |

Interesting. Sixty years of owners produces some interesting finds. Wonder what those two spikes are?
And that spark plug- huh? Wrong end of the car!
Love the wrench. I can imagine how it went at Mike’s Foreign Auto.
“Mike, I dropped your wrench.”
“Where?”
“Down in there.”
“Leave it, get this thing #$&@*! car wrapped up- the customer’s on his way.”
When I cut the damaged, twisted drivers side heater channel off my car to replace it, a relatively clean and shiny 8-32 toggle bolt fell to the floor and perched itself atop the pile of rust and other years of debris freed from inside the channel.
Hard to imagine someone would think it would be a good idea to use it to hold the pan to the body but there it was. |

| And the wrench was in inches, not metric. |

Looks like screw drivers. Typically used in electronics. |

found some old joints in the ashtray of my old bus when I drug it out of the bushed years ago. It was also packed with old vacuums from the 60's and 70's and a few magazines including some well work playboys. Everything was musty and moldy so it got pitched _________________ 1960 Ragtop bug- work in progress |
