Well i got this motor out of a 914 and its in a 66 bug almost running. I have a question that I thought someone may help me with. I got this motor for free and I dont know much about it other than its a 2250? supposedly. Here is the motor in its entirety:
Here is where im guessing the lines to the cooler are:
And the question is, What are these for? I think i see oil in them:
Thanks for any answers. |

The first set of oil cooler "lines" that you see are really setup for a remote oil filter, not a cooler. It looks like they put that adapter on the stock oil filter mount, and ran the lines off to a remote filter mount somewhere. You don't need this if you can fit a oil filter on it. I would ditch this and just put a stock filter on.
The second picture of the two "ports" are where the stock oil cooler would normally go. Looks like they put an adapter on the case with those fittings and then remotely mounted the cooler somewhere else. This makes sense on the pancake engine since the stock cooler would no longer be cooled due to the upright conversion.
You should put some oil lines on this and run it to an external cooler somewhere else.
That should cover the basics. There is a lot more to the system, but that should answer your immediate questions.
