beanery- a few notes for your benefit.

1. In the above 3 photos, the middle one shows another piece of hardware udrectly underneath the bar that connects both carbs. That would be the hose which connects both MANIFOLDS. The other two photos has that hose coming out the FRONT of the manifold close to the engine compartment front firewall. Either way, your engine should have this hose. It is called the "equalization hose" which is usually needed for any single-throat dual carb setup.

2. Mount the carb onto the manifold, but keep off the air cleaner. Then place this assembly onto the cylinder head, make sure the manifold base sits flat against the head (gasket in between!), and tighten the attachment nuts (M8x1.25 thread) evenly. You will find that the left carb's front nut is the hardest to reach. Have a magnet probe handy in case you drop one of the nuts or the lockwasher.

3. Install the air cleaner after each carb is tightened down. You will most likely need to lower the engine lid slightly to get the AC base over the mounting stud and past the top reinforcement panel of the lid.

4. The cross-bar that connects both carbs is bolted together at the center. Assemble it first, then install it after you have the left fan shroud heater hose off, and the distributor cap off. Slide it between the FRONT of the generator stand and the BACK face of the fan shroud.

5. That cross-bar is bolted together at the center like I just mentioned. Most likely it will be fine for your engine width if your engine is near stock. You then need to screw the outer ball cup ends in or out so that they snap onto the carb throttle arm ball studs with the carbs both set to idle. Only once you have that set, should you connect the return spring.

6. Apply grease to each ball stud before you snap on the respective ball cup end of the carb link.

7. Many people will think the stock Kad/Empi linkage is lousy because it is so flimsy, but if it is new and the ball ends are firm in their cup ends, it can be made to work OK. There are other linkages available which are sturdier and provide better adjustment/operation at all engine temperatures.
