I'm getting to the point of where I need to get this thing running. I'm probably going to take this to a shop to have the work done but I want to buy the parts from Vintage Parts or Wolfsburg West and have them available so I can get my car in and out. Is there a web site with this info or can someone help me get a material list together. Stuff like spark plugs, points, plug wires, etc. I just don't want to forget anything.

If you're doing just a tuneup then point, plugs, cap, rotor, wires, new oil and whatnot should cover it. Has the bug been sitting for a long time with fuel in the tank? If so, then the tank may need some attention like cleaning and sealing and maybe a carb rebuild. Once you get it running, you will most likely find other issues that need attention. But for the most part, old VW engines don't need much to get back into shape. Good luck. _________________ and take the kids for instance "Are we going in the Volkswagen bus?" and they say "Yay!" and clap their hands and if it's a glorious day you can slide the sunroof back and let a little of the glory in and all of a sudden, it stops looking funny.

Thats the next project, the gas tank. I'm going to order the Eastwood gas tank kit and and maybe try to rebuild the gas valve or try to find a repro. I don't know the history on the engine, so hopefully everything will be ok, I'll keep my fingers crossed |
