Barndoor deluxes had a red VW, Later deluxes (after 55) had a black VW. I think Barndoors Standards just had a Black VW

I just looked at the 53 cap and compared it to a late 50's cap.The stamping is much deeper or more raised. You also tell easly by feel.
Now to go check my stash of old hub caps.

An old thread i know, but i just wanted to know if the logo in the centre should be painted black or red? If red is correct what red is used.

The NOS set of early Type 2 hubcaps that was making the rounds at most of the northeast (US) swap meets during the late '80s and early '90s had logos painted Sealing Wax Red.
