Hi everybody.
This will be my winter project, I found it, in a garage, it was abbandoned.

It s really solid, and rust free, with no holes.

A friend of mine, sent me a photo, and he told me:
There is a single cab in a garage, 130 km from your house, but don t know if is a vw or not.

My friend is driving everyday this mountain road for work, but he saw only one time the garage open and he saw it.

So last friday after work I was thinking, why not, take the car and let go to see it.

I talked with the owner, and he said, I don t need more it for work, and yes I can sale it.

I was Shocked Cool Laughing and I bought it.

Now I want to slam it just a little bit, but without cutting anything, I was thinking about the spindles and the adjustable spring plates only.
And yes change all the engine gasket, for a general controll
I will post other photos inside the cab later Wink

Wow. What a lovely find. And in Neptune Blue, too.

I would discourage you from making ANY non-stock modifications, but that's just me.

I also have a '75 single cab, and might be keen to share some notes.

I think you've confused the term "summer cruiser" for the term "Project".

It looks like you already have a slammed bus, you should leave this one alone & just appreciate it as an original bus.

Xmas time, so here i'm again, with more free time for my volks Very Happy

So i really love my new sigle cab, so it's looks very good outside, but i will do the same for everything that' s inside and below.

I bought a lot of things, cool things, so my plan now is to teardown the engine and transmissio, and rebuilt everything like new.

I bought new cylinders, pistons, pushrods tube, new bearings, 4 in to 1 empi exhaust.

Finally my decision is to maintane the stock high for this truck, with originals tyres too,

Here is the first step

Italy is LHD. The UK is RHD.

Perhaps this is obvious to most of you - but was a type 1 engine standard in a 1975 single cab? I would have thought it would come with a type 4. But perhaps the engine in the photo is not original?? Just trying to learn —

Regardless, the SC looks to be in great shape. Congrats on a nice find.

To further the discussion… You could order anything VW made anywhere in the world unless it was legally prohibitive. Out here in the "free country," we have laws regarding emissions and illumination that are whacky and different from the rest of the world. So you probably couldn't import a bus into the US with incorrect fog lamp actuation, wrong exhaust system, or superior H4 headlamp projection style. Other countries could import the Vanagon with a Type 1 engine, modified Type 3 cooling system, and dual carbs. Laughing (And I paid for a client's smog retest because the shop thought the crankshaft pulley notch was 6° wide…)

But Italy apparently knows what's up; the Type 1 in a later engine compartment is a dream to work on. And the silver front turn signal lenses look sweet; amber bulbs in there?

See you on the road,
Robbie

Wait... with original tires? Or with original style tires? ... there is a safety difference. Please get new tires.

I suspect he means new original size tires on stock rims, running old ones would be crazy.
That's a cool truck, nice find!
I wonder if the rear gate has been changed, didn't those late trucks with the big tail lights have windows in the tail gate?
