I need a bushing for a project that I am doing. I can't seem to find a bearing that will go into the stock steering tube (bushing would need to be 1.5" OD), and have a 7/8" ID hole in the middle for a steering shaft. Anybody have the tools to make me one? Maybe 2-3" long?

Delrin is not as slippery as UHMW ,but is really nice to machine and harder than UHMW.Because UHMW is more slippery it will last longer than delrin,but either will work fine.

Delrin is actually DuPont's name for UHMW (ultra high molecular weight)Nylon.

Granted there are various types of Delrin.

* Standard Delrin (Homopolymer)
* Delrin AF- Contains Teflon fibers and works very well for bushings but is a bit softer due to the TFE Teflon fibers.
* Delrin, Glass filled- Low deformation under load and good impact resistance. No creep under load.

There are more type but these are the most popular.

Hate to be picky, but Delrin is actually Acetal. UHMW is something completly different. Much cheaper than Acetal and works good. Delrin/Acetal is used a lot for suspension bushings in race cars.

How picky do you want to be? Delrin is actually an Acetal Homopolymer which all shares the same basic molecular chain with what DuPont calls "Nylon".
