Have any of you guys ever seen one of these?? A good friend of mine gave it to me. Both he and I have never seen one of these things before?? It does say "Eberspacher" on the plastic cover. I do have an Eberspacher Gas Heater in my 53 Standard. This timer thing will look bad ass somewhere up in the dash.

Hey Johnny-
That timer won't work on the early gas heaters that reply on the choke style cable to turn them on/off.
I've seen a couple, but they are pretty rare.
If you want to sell it, let me know....or, we could trade some work to the gas heater currently installed in your '53, I'm sure I can get it working.

You have seen these before Eh-Greg-Eh??? Where? Thanks for the offer Trick but I know a movida when I see one! J/K!! I would like to eventually clean up the gas heater, make it look pretty. Or just presentable. Regardless, that timer will look bad ass on my dash. So when tricks ask what it is........I will just walk them over to the Booty of the bus and point out the Heater! BOOM!!!
And why are you always saying "WE"???? WE, the Sambanistas, know you just kick it when Clara is getting down doing the labor! Anyone who was sentenced to "CAMP BRICKTOP" knows first hand you run a hardcore labor camp in Dena.
Linda - your still a $2 trick with clean hands! BOOM on you truco!! |

More likely BBB than the Feb. Octo. I hope to make it to BBB in the blue '56 Subhatch. I might make OCTO too if I have a bus for sale or need to deliver a vehicle. |

Yes it will look bad ass for sure! I got one of those off Ebay a few years back...anybody have a picture of where it would be installed under the dash or know what era it is correct for? I hope it will be work with my '66 Westfalia with factory gas heater.
I also have the original brochure that came with it. It has some cool animations of a Beetle with heat raidiating off in the winter. I'll try to post some photos when I dig it out. |

Sorry I am so slow in replying. It was mounted under the dash on the left side of the pod, IIRC.
You could send him a PM with your other inquiries. It is basically just a fancy switch that replaces the under-seat pull switch. |

| I believe its actually a timer you can set so that your gas heater comes on at the time you set on the dial so you bus is toasty before you get in it in the morning. In Canada we actually use gas heaters, they work really well when set up right. |

That's exactly what it does. It's a Vintage xmas light timer. |

If you look at the timer it has a 24 hour clock, you can set the am or pm of when you want the heater to start. I wish I had one of these for my gas heater so it could suck in the exhaust into the interior of my car for 15 minutes before I went to work in the morning. Cant get enough of that sweet sweet CO ( carbon monoxide ) |

| Thanks for all the info guys. That mechanism will remain with the bus, though I don't know if I will get it to function? I don't want anyone finding me asleep in there with X's on my eyes! |

The intake for the Eberspacher and the exhaust (both gas heater and engine) are in different locations. The only way you'll be sucking in exhaust is if you have an engine exhaust leak or if you're sitting idle in an enclosed garage or at a stoplight with a car next to you. |

Or if your hood seal isnt very good on your beetle and the exhaust comes over the fender and is sucked in the leaking hood seal. Or if you are sitting in traffic and the exhaust is sucked in by the fan on the heater regardless of type. Just speaking from EXPERIENCE. |
