Anyone have experiences with, or strong opinions about seat cushions/covers?
I mean the cheap, sit-on-top kind, that facilitates ventilation and reduces fatigue. I've searched, and all I really came up with were lots of thread about seat replacements, or fit-like-a-glove seat covers (SewFine, etc.)
I'm more interested in the beaded type of seat covers, or even something like these:

For those who use things like this, what are y'all using? What do you like or dislike? _________________ I'm pullin' into town on the interstate, I got a steel train in the rain.

Sheepskin for all seasons. Surprisingly comfortable in hot temps. Here's an explanation from the interwebs:
"For centuries, we have known that no natural or man-made fiber possesses the virtues of 100% sheepskin. Its soft, resilient fibers keep you cool and dry in summer and warm and cozy in winter. Unlike most synthetic materials, sheepskin does not conduct heat or cold so it remains at a constant temperature even after long exposure to extreme temperatures. Each hollow wool fiber absorbs up to 30% of its own weight in moisture without feeling wet—keeps you perfectly dry in hot weather. The free flow of air between you and your seat is a comforting change from the clamminess of leather and vinyl." _________________ '77 Bay Window / '89 Caratsburg (aka. the Stormtrooper) |

I don't have these yet, but I like the look of the wood bead seat covers with Vanagons.
They seem to fit the era the vans are from better than the fancy neoprene sports car type ones.
Amazon sells them for about $18-$19.

If you're worried about them falling apart, I'm sure you can just run some fishing line or jute through them. _________________ All-grain homebrewer with a 1990 Vanagon Carat. |

X2 for sheepskin, plus they fit the era. I bought some and sewed in some tabs to hold them in place. _________________ Live Fulltime in motorhome

Ive been looking for some time for seat covers. We have a dog a 2 kids they take a toll on the seats. How well does sheep skin clean up? Can you throw it in the washer? I would think not but ?????? Where is a good place to buy? _________________ 82 Westy: Air is cool! |

Mulcheese, you can't throw em in the washer. But you can get them in black or brown or very dark grey to help prevent yourself from seeing the kid/dog-caused messes, and take them to the dry cleaner once in awhile for a nice cleanup. _________________ Rebuilt 2.1 in a 1985 manual Camper

I got a set of New Zealand seat skins from Costco, they're very nice... Open-backed covers, they don't envelop the whole seat. Dark grey or tan.
Funny, I searched a long time for my Passat with leather seats... only took a few weeks of summer driving to get my butt into these sheepskins. _________________ '86 Syncro CHC Top AAZ Turbodiesel
