|
|
Hi,
I have stock 1600cc , single relief case , non doghouse.
I heard folks that often upgrade from stock 21mm to 26mm HD oil pump , what's the benefit of this upgrade ?
I will see any improvement ?
Thanks

That is fine... 26mm is all most engine's will ever need. Some people think that putting big geared oil pumps in their engines is better but in reality it can cause oil bypass problems by creating too much pressure and can rob the engine of some power.
Just make sure you check the clearances on the pump to make sure it is in spec.... there are some really crappy quality ones out there. |

I have seen pumps with poor quality from both brands... although fewer from schadek... You have to check every one... this may be a problem where you are if you don't have a supplier around with several to check/choose from or the ability to easily return the purchase.
Improvement? well you should see a bit higher pressure and more flow from the gears... a good balance is what you want, that is why bigger ( over 30mm) gears are not "better" |

Thats what I thought.. .suppose you buy one and it comes in then you check it and have to send it back... imagine the expense in having to do this several times...
You could buy one from Gene Berg and only do it once...
