I've been mentally preparing myself for the idea of an engine replacement and have been researching the options from GoWesty to Subaru transplant to simply rebuilding the stock 2.1l.
Does anyone here have any experience with Quality German Autoparts' rebuilt longlblocks? It seems superficially to be a very good value compared to the cost of GoWesty engines and the fitment challenges of a Subaru engine.

hey, if you could find a place that makes pistons and valves out of plastic I'll bet it would be REAL cheap. |

I asked a similar question on this forum last year in November or December. Most of the response about Quality German Auto was negative. Most of the people felt you get what you pay for. There have also been some discussion of the Go Westy engines with mainly positive feedback, but some negatives too. There are limits on their warranty as to how much they will pay for labor on repairs for another shop to do the work if you have problems. Their warranty is also prorated. |

We are very pleased with the 2.3l GoWesty enigine we had installed eariler this year. It is strong and looks to be well assembled. We put it through it paces on a Seattle to Anaheim (and back) road trip this summer and it was flawless. |
