|
|
Just about have the new engine ready to go now... however, I lost one of my diagrams that I made to ensure that I had all of my wiring routed and connected correctly.
Couple of questions:
1 - On the starter there is the cable from the battery and the wire from the alternator which connect to the "bolt" on the solenoid - correct? However, does it matter which "tabs" the remaining 2 wires - the ones with the plastic connectors on them - get connected to?
2 - There is a single white wire that exits the wiring harness in the area of number 1 and 2 fuel injectors. This wire is encased in a brown sheath - the same color as the harness - and is about 2 feet long. There is a single tab connector on the end of it. I am thinking that this goes to the distributor, however I am not certain.
Forgot to mention 1982 Air cooled everything stock and original.
Thanks in advance.... _________________ 1982 Westy

This plug is polarized, ie you can only put the plug into the starter in one orientation. It plugs in right next to the bolted connection for the wires.

If it's a white wire, and it's got a female spade connection, then that connects to the coil. I beleive it connects to the negative side of the coil. |

Yes - there are 2 male spade connectors on the solenoid that the 2 wires with plastic female spade connectors need to connect to. Does it matter which female spade goes onto which male spade? It is possible to connect either of the 2 females to the males. I need to know which one goes where. I am not certain what you mean by "polarized plug" Maybe I am missing something here...

Yep it's white and the length goes to the coil. How does one know the negative side of the coil. There are 2 male spages on the coil.
