Will one of the standard towbars fit most bajas with the tube front bumpers? Anyone have experience with towing bajas/manxs and also best way for tail-lights when towing? Has anyone fabed up a patch cord to plug into wiring harness to use car tial-lights? |

the standard bug towbar does not go to the bumper but insted it goes to the front beam. as long as you have a bug platform it shouldn't matter what body is on it, the tow bar still goes to the front beam.
as far as lights, what ever makes you happy and safe works.

Frank;
I realize the attachment to the front beam with towbar. I was concerned about how a front tube baja bumper which I believe also mounts to the front beam fits in with the towbar. Do many of the front tube baja bumpers bolt to the front beam or do they have welded receivers/tabs to bolt up to, either way of the width of the bumper mount may interfere with towbar. I'm looking for soemone who tows a baja and has similar bumper. |

well if the baha bumper screws up the normal towing location, you can allways modify the towbar if you have access to a welder.
it would mostly be a "modify as needed" as there are so many bumpers out there it would be hard to just say"do " or "cut that"

bob, I had single tube front bumper on my baja and the standard tow bar fit, now I have a double tube front bumper and it still works. What bumper do you currently have. Most of them bolt to the lower beam bolts and weld to the towers, the tow bar gois on the outer ends of the beam and down low, infact the bar comes from under the beam. Unless you have a low rider baja, I cant see that wont work. Good luck, E mail with any more questions, |

JTERICKSPRESSENTER.COM;
That is just th answer I needed. I do not have a car yet but am looking and the most popular and the one I want is the simple single tube bumper.
Now that you mention the towbar coming in underneath the beam it makes sense. I just couldn't visualize it. Now wish me luck finding a car in NW. |

Bob the way I used my towing lights was to run a flat four wire standard trailer wire that has a trailer plug on one end that fits whatever is on your tow vehicle and run the wires through the car with a female plug coming out the back that accepts a plug from a removable light bar that stays with the tow vehicle while you use the car offroad.This lets you use a much more visable light set up when towing and the smaller bare minimum lights when out in the sticks where things get knocked off.Have fun DWS. |
