Not that it can't be done, but it would cost more to do than to buy a real Karmann Cabriolet... IMO...

It can be done if you want to do it. The difference is that it MUST be reinforced along the rockers. You need to acquire a windshield frame (which I happen to have from a parted out 1966) the frame top, and to modify the back of the coupe for the new mechanism. As a matter of fact, I know someone who is making a T34 coupe into a convertible.

I agree it can be done, but why?, there are still "real" verts out there ( the type 34 deal I might nderstand for someone with deep pockets and the I want to be REAL different mentality)
If the coupe your getting is in good shape, sell it and put the $$ tword a vert.
If it is not in that good of shape then the resto will cost just that much more ( add the vert top frame and vert parts etc, many hours of welding fabrication etc. and you end up spending alot more than if you bought a real McCoy to start with.
But like I said that's just me and my opinion... Like Kgman states "if you want to" it can certainly be done. Now professional looking like you want... that's another ball of wax.
