|

| We just purchased Bug Pickup conversion kit made in the 1970s. Being a newbie with VWs, we were wondering if this would fit on a Super Beetle or if we are limited to regular bugs. Can't find any info on this subject. Any help is appreciated. |

| Odds are it won't fit on a super beetle chassis. The mcpherson strut setup is totally different than the standard beetle. There most likely isn't a place to bolt the suspension to on your new body. Post up some pics so we can take a look. |

| Pick-up conversion? Replaces the back half right? Might be OK with a SB since your not playing with the front. |

This is a picture of the VW bug pickup conversion kit we just purchased. We are trying to determine if it will fit super beetle or just standard beetle. Any info or knowledge about this is greatly appreciated. |

That kit was made by Domus, and it doesn't matter if you put it on a standard or super Beetle. Just curious....what did it cost you? _________________ Organized people are just too lazy to look for stuff

| We got lucky and found it on The Samba for $200. Very excited about the project. Are you sure about it working on a Super Beetle? We don't want to purchase a vehicle only to find it won't fit. Thank you very much. |

What he said. If you don't change anything on the front it won't matter whether it is a super or not. |

| It will definately work on a super beetle, but if you still have to buy a bug for the project, I'd recommend buying a standard beetle. Do a search for "Domus" and you will find alot of information about the kits and plenty of pictures. Good luck with the project. |

| Try going to www.runtrod.com and searching for "bug truck" or just "truck" and also www.volksrods.com May not be domus kits but lots of pics of bug trucks, especially custom built one-offs. |

| Bugdust, Why do you recommend that it be a standard beetle? I've done a google search for DOMUS & I get zilch. Maybe you could direct me? If you know more info, I'd like more. Thank you & thanks to everyone for the info. It's a big help. It's the weekend, party on! |

There is a sticky in this section about whats a super and what's not. It seems to be a matter of preference as far as supers and standards. For me it's standards because I am more familiar and have more parts for one. Part of the thing you need to think about is the look of the car - flat vs curved windshield, etc. (but not all supers are curved) Then it gets into what type of VW you are more comfortable working with and also more important, what car you can find as a base to build with.
I havent seen one of the pickups for ages, but I thought they were pretty cool.
Good luck and have fun! _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone 1914. Ex wifes car.

Sorry, i couldn't find anything either. I found a small site a coule years ago that had the buildup of one and some info but I couldn't find it just now. I probably have an article about them in one of my old VW magazines but I just put them back in storage.
Here's a couple pics I found here.
