I have a Chenoweth, street driven with a 1915cc/Engle 120/9.5-1/compression/Mofoco Heads. Currently has a 009 mechanical advance and running a Bosch blue coil. I am considering a new Pertronix distributor. I see they have a few choices. Should I change to Vacuum advance or stick with mechanical and still multiples to choose from either way I go?
I would like to keep the blue coil if that helps. What one and why?
Thanks Ken |

Thanks Glen, I will do some research on them. Not much more money. |

Agreed with Glenn. Absolute best bang for your buck and great performance. I have had mine for 4 years with 0 issues. _________________ 65 Baja - Class 5 Unlimited Race Car

I will be ordering the kit Wednesday. I run the blue coil at this time. Any thought on the one that comes with the kit? Also a light rail like mine driven on the streets mostly, what weight and spring recommendations?
Thanks |

It depends on the engine specs, not the vehicle. _________________ Glenn

Quite a coincidence! I have a Chenowth rail, street driven, 1915 with MOFOCO heads. Came from an old Bosch 009 to the CB Magnaspark, and love it. Just buy the kit with their coil- nice powerful spark. _________________ 1974 Chenowth 2RL #1244 Street Legal

Single IDF 44, I had a sacrificial exhaust left over from when I bought the rail. I installed it and did some Delta P testing across the 4 exhaust outlet to the mufflers downstream side to make sure I would have enough exhaust flow.(4"h20 depreciation) I broke out the Tig welder and made some stainless steel piping and welded on a flanges to pipe leaving the #4 ex port and into the downstream side of the muffler. Manifold heat works well. Runs much better. A work in process, Nice car, clean. Engine was a mess when I bought it, it has come around.
New distributor going in and re-jet again. LOL. |

What will really amaze you is how little Delta P it really takes! Check out some stock VW Thing exhausts, they get the differential they need simply by how the heat flange tube enters the #2 cylinder and exits the #4. I also kind of assume that one direction would be better than the other just based on firing order, if you take the #2 to #4 flange approach. I believe it's Vintage Speed that has an exhaust that uses little scoops kind of like VW did with the Thing, it apparently works well without porting to after the collector like you did. Who would have thought! I like your way too. It's a sure fire way to a result without needing to corral exhaust pulses with a little scoop.
How's that bad boy idle with a Centermount and an Engle 120? I'd love to see a video! _________________ 1974 Chenowth 2RL #1244 Street Legal

The distributor should be arriving next week. A bit of ingenuity out in the shop and I should be able to tune the advance for a bit more lower end. I gave a thought to the 2/4 exhaust pulse. I did not want to deal with any reversion during valve overlap. The fact is I did not have enough cam specs to run it on my simulator. So out the exhaust (Muffler) it went.
