About four years ago I was searching for a car. I wanted a bus but my buddy found a fastback for me. I didn't have the money so I passed it up. He ended up buying it and I was jealous. I went on a search to find my own fasty afetr driving his. I found a 72 fasty in the paper for 1500.00. I told the guy I needed a week to get the rest of the money saved up and then I would come get it. He said he was going on vacation and would be back in about two weeks. two weeks later I have the money and am waiting for his call. He calls and says, "nik, i have some bad news" what i said. Apparently while he was on vacation a drunk driver came tearin down his street and side swiped nearly every car on a four block road. "Damn", I said that I would come take a look at it anyways and he said he would give me a good price. The fasty wasn't to bad(front and rear fender damage) so i bought it at a steal of 500.00. Ran good. Got it home tore off the panels, put on new ones, guted the interior and started fresh, sanded and sprayed the pan, then finally I took it out on the road. Not more than 4 hours after I got the thing put back together I wrecked it. My fault. Cause I am an idiot. I hit a tree and smashed the same side that I fixed. This time the damage wasn't replacable. The front window just popped right out, in one peice. Couldn't open the door to get out and I had taken a chunk out of one of the rims on the curb that I jumped. Drove it home about 8 miles on a flat tire. Had a tow truck come get it and took it to the vw junkyard.
