How wide are the wheels? Alloy or steel? _________________ "Sometimes you have to build a box to think outside of." - Bruce (not Springsteen)

I think the alloys are supppsed to fit, basically, but I never found any at anywhere near a decent price, so I gave up.... _________________ "Use the SEARCH, Luke" But first visit the Vanagon FAQ!

| The wheels are steel and they are 6" wide, but I am unaware of the centerbore. They look a lot like the passat 15" steels except they are 16". They are hopefully going on my syncro. |

You have a couple of options. If you don't want to run spacers, you will need to increase the diameter of the wheel's centerbore by about 2mm. The 40mm offset will work just fine.
If your OK with running spacers, you can install a 8mm spacer which will bump wheel to a 32mm offset (which is an ideal offset actually) at the same allowing the centerbore of the wheel to clear the hub.
I'm pretty sure that the stock wheel studs are long enough to work on a steel wheel (because it's so thin) and an 8mm spacer. As long as you can get 7.5 turns of the lug nut, your OK. _________________ "Sometimes you have to build a box to think outside of." - Bruce (not Springsteen)
