Howzit?

I have found a source for rubber seals for the westy poptop, about $2 a foot, but I was wondering which one is prefered by you all....

Here are the three best examples I received:
For all three examples, the seal attaches the same, the roughly 3/4 textured seal trim pushes on and holds to the fiberglass without any glue.
I will be using this trim to ONLY cover the poptop, NOT the luggage rack

SEAL NUMBER ONE -

SEAL NUMBER TWO -

SEAL NUMBER THREE -

#2 seems to be the closest to the seal I got from Gowesty a couple of years ago. No glue, though - held on by stainless steel clips that are part of the u-channel section that grips the edge of the poptop. Works great - no problems.

The 'seals' hold onto the fiberglass as you describe - it is the added rubber tube or flap that is glued onto the 'seal' - thank you for your response...

Glue? not necessary with the correct seals. The 'bulb' is an issue also. I agree with the busdepot that the luggage rack should not have the bulb or else water and debris will be trapped against the metal roof under the fiberglass. Read this page (scroll down to poptop seals)

Too true. Last year I took off my the rotted, original luggage rack seal. It took weeks for all of the leaves, acorns and other debris to finally come out of there, even after flushing it out with strong water pressure thru the top holes.....Nasty! Rolling Eyes

Back to your original question, then... #2 looks correct for the poptop (not luggage rack) seal. I was thinking your photos show the luggage rack, but now I realize yours is a 68-73 Westy and that the front is the poptop. Your model of Westy does not use a seal on the luggage rack. My earlier comment refers to 74-79 luggage racks. Sorry for any confusion.

#2with no glue for the pop top. I got mine from gowesty. the luggage rack rubber doesnt have the bulb though. just the rubber with the metal clips inside to hold it in. the bulb is on the poptop though.

I do have an issue with the rubber that meets the rack. the drivers side doesn't like to sit flush against the rack so I clamp down on the poptop with wire to keep if flush.
