hello
i removed the entire steering column from the cab, and its originally painted seagull grey (its a mango bus)
Now i wonder if i can just sandblast it and powdercoat gloss black...
Can i dissable the column from the steering box ? some oil poured from the column last week when i put it upside down...seems there is no way to separate these... anyway i thought it should be good too sandblast n powdercoat the steering box alltogeteher with the column.
Same about the handbrake, but i cant remove it i hammered the pin but nothing move
please give me youre input

The clevis pin at the bottom of handbrake is a swine.
Don't hammer too hard, you will burr the edge & it may never come out.
I got mine out without hammering from a 40 year old SC pick-up that had no pedal cover ( splash tray.)
The trick is to heat the pin housing (NOT the pin) to bright red heat with your oxy acetylene torch.
Attach your biggest & meanest vice (vise in the US?) grip as hard as you can to the end of the pin. Rock back & forth until the pin rotates then use a large screwdriver as a fulcrum & lever the pin out with the vice grip. |
