|
|
I need to buy a reverse lockout plate for my 1958 type 2 bus which has a straight shifter, And Im sure that the plate has to be mounted on the topside of the floor just under the shifter spring and boot, but I am not sure which one I need?? And I was wondering if anyone knows?
I have two pictures (Seen below) of some I have found, but even those Im not sure about. what should it look like?, and does anyone know where to get one?
This plate has two tabs on top.
this plate has only one tab on top |

| Ok Ok I think I know this one, I was looking it up this past weekend to install mine and according to my Bently book VW changed to a more "beefier" lockout plate the one in the first picture. I think either one should work I opted for the one in the first picture (two tabs). |

| well the one in the first picture I found at wolfbugwest and they say that it would fit all Buses through -1979, but then I looked at cip1.com and they have the same one (with two tabs) but say that it fits only bugs, Now Im confused! |

When I removed my shifter, the one I pulled out was with one tab. I lost that one so I bought another one with one tab then I read the Bently and it said the one with two tabs were used to replace the single tabbed lockout plate. So I bought the type with two tabs and thats what I have now. Look it up in your Bently.

| The plate in the lower picture is the one that all of my old buses and busses that I've pulled shifters off of at autowreckers, over the years, have had. Use that one. |

| So I take that the one with one tab was the orginal one which they used on the older buses, but have now upgraded it to the two tab ones, and I can use either one? Is that right? |

| I would go with the older style unless you hear from some people who have used the later model plate and liked it. |
