I want to run 145's in the front of my '67 beetle. I am running 4.5" wide stock steel type rims. If I go into my local Firestone or Belle Tire etc. what do I ask for as an equivalent to the Nankang 145's?

| 145r15? unless you want to run a wider tire, then you could calculate the height of that one and and find another with a similar height. maybe somewhere around a 175-55-r15? |

You ask for a 145/15. Good luck with the Firestone dealer even knowing what you are talking about. _________________ If you`re going to do something, do it right. |

No shit. Most local tire shops have no clue when you talk VW sizes unless its a 165. Then they will tell you its special order only and tax you up the ass. www.cokertire.com or sellers on this site like serranos and have them drop shipped to your door for about $55 each for Nankang and 79 ea for firestones.

Is it worth the extra to get Firestone or Michelin that Coker offers vs. the Nankangs everyone else sells? _________________ 1967 Beetle, 1971 Bay Window Westy, 1972 Super Beetle, 1970 Drag Beetle, 1976 Porsche 912E

| Discount Tire / America's Tire usually has them in stock ready to go. |

Never had Nankangs, but have had Firestone, Michelin and Kleber 145's on the front of various cars. If you can get them, go for the Michelins; I found the Firestones very hard rubber, and difficult to get up to temperature to grip at all. Of course, the Michelins being softer meant that they wore out quicker...
I've only recently found the Kleber (one only...) but it seems to be a decent match for the Michelin ZX thats on the other side. When I find another I'll go back to having a pair and a spare. _________________ '67/'68 Cal Look Beetle, 2007cc, 48IDFs, 14.4 @ 93mph, Oct 2017.

Really? I never knew. All those wasted trips to Orange Co. to get tires.

I had a pair of Klebers in a 135, these seemed to be a real square tire. Sharp shoulders. I didn't care for the tread either. I have been pretty happy with the 135's and 145's I have by Nankang. They hold the road good enough for me. People say these small narrow tires don't corner to well. My slammed stock power'd '61 running 135's handles the wrap around style on-ramps just as well as my Ford Lightning! _________________ Old rides...
