|
|
We live here in Michigan and will be getting new rims for our 1970 bug in the spring as soon as the snow goes away. We have been to all the major tire dealers (Ex. Belle Tire) Also the new VW dealers in the area..and they all say they can mount the tires just fine but not one place can balance them. Why is it so hard to find a place to balance these wheels? I am still looking.
Thanks. Johnw |

Just ignore what they say, they can balance your 4 bolt wheels. When you talked to them on the phone, they assumed you had 67 and earlier wide 5 wheels. Those wheels require a special adaptor that most shops today don't have. Your 4 bolt wheels are just as easy to balance today as any new car. _________________

| Ok. Thank you. All we were getting are EMPI chrome wheels. One hole in the wall place said he use to have some kind of adapter but that was years ago. I will check back with them again. Thanks. John. |

| yeah, me too. I've had wide 5's mounted and balanced at the chain store "NTB Tire and Battery"...they never had a problem. Even had some 195 45 15's mounted once without any problem...any NTB's in your area? |

The place that mounted my 165x45 on my 15 bus rims said they were easy to mount but they couldnt get them to bead up so they put them in a metal cage and 'ethyr shot' them to get them to seat. _________________ GFK

I had trouble finding a spot to balance my wheels on my 67 also. I would think this would work, if I can find one for cheap, and just keep it in my ride, and bolt it on to use in the balancer.
