I will be purchasing a set of Flat-4 five lugs for 67 bug. It has a 2" narrowed beam with dropped spindles so not drastically lowered.

I have some ideas about what size tires to run but wanted your opinions. I think what they call "145's" would seem correct for the front? (I dont know much about tires so I apologize in advance....)

For the rear, I am not sure what to run. Its just a mildly modified bug. I would like it to have a nice looking wider tire but nothing over the top.

I would be very grateful for any size and brands you may recommend. Also do I need to run tubes on the 145's?

Thanks as always

145s will be perfect for the front of your '67, as long as you get 145R15 and not 145/65R15 (Smart Car tyres). They look garbage in my opinion, and ruin the look of many a good car.
You won't need to run tubes on Flat 4 wheels as far as I know, but check with your tyre shop.

On the back I'd run something like a 185 or 195, in around a 65 or 70 profile. It'll give you a decent rake.

The first number (145, 195 etc) is the width of the trad in mm.
The second number (65, 70 etc) is the height of the tyre in % of the tread width. So a 145/65 will not be as tall as a 195/65. A tyre without the profile number is a standard tyre, and I seem to remember that it's around an 82 profile if worked out!

If you have 145s in the front then I would go 205/65/15s for the rear.

For a visual. Here is my '59 with a -2" beam, NO drop spindles, adjusted all the was down it the front, and stock rear. I am running 145's in the front and 205/70R15 in the rear.
