Rogelio contacted me via email with regards to a T3 Syncro Camper project that I had for sale here on the Samba. He requested photos and additional details which I sent. We then set up a time to speak a video chat. November 30th. 39 minutes we spoke via WhatsApp. During this call Roger committed to purchasing the T3 Syncro. I pressed him for a deposit. He said he was only comfortable with $100 which on a $11900 is slightly under 1% of the total value. I accepted but for $100 i was thinking he wasnt' fully committed. I told during this call that if he showed up and inspected the Syncro in person and elected not to purchase that i would return his deposit. He stated to me that he would fly up within 10 days and rent a truck and trailer to Pick up the Syncro at my property and i said that I would assist with the paperwork and related for US Customs. Done deal or so I thought. The following day Roger wrote me and said he wanted to renegotiate the sales price. In this same email Roger also wanted me to deliver the T3 Syncro across the border through US Customs with the Declaration that the VW is entering the USA for repairs/restoration- he asked if I would make a false declaration to Customs on the telephone BEFORE we made a verbal contract and I said I would NOT do this. I replied to this email with a clear outline that I would not lie or make fraudulent declarations to Customs. i said i would look into freight costs which I did. i created a U-ship listing and called 5-6 different freight carrier whom I've used over the years. I also spoke to a US Customs broker to get current rates. I followed up with Roger on the 5th of December with an excellent freight rate. He never responded to my last 2 contact attempts: email (1) and text via WhatsApp (2).

I invested 4-5 hours of my time on this deal. He said he wants his $100 back but he has forgotten crucial elements of our verbal contract. He wasted a significant amount of my time. I would recommend not conducting business with Rogelio.

I like to stick to the facts.

You agreed to pay a deposit which we agreed was refundable upon viewing of the the project VW Camper and you didn't proceed with the purchase. You did not come to my property. You broke the contract Roger. Please share with the Samba why you think I should return your deposit?

de·pos·it
/dəˈpäzət/
noun
1.
a sum of money placed or kept in a bank account, usually to gain interest.
"cash funds which are an alternative to bank or building society deposits"
2.
a sum payable as a first installment on the purchase of something or as a pledge for a contract, the balance being payable later.

Stealing means to take something without the owner's permission or knowledge and keep it. It can also mean to take something away by force or unjust means

You cancelled a contract and expect full remuneration. I invested hours into this deal. Consider the $150 partial payment of my wasted time.

Happy Holidays Roger.

This individual filed a grievance with PayPal. He got his $ back. Despite all of this he still finds time in his "busy" life to leave comments in my feedback section.

FACTS:

- 60 minute video call made with him.
- I spent a significant amount of time getting shipping quotes, talking with a Customs broker.
- Agreed to purchase. Offered a very small $100 deposit as a gesture of good will. We both verbally (on video call) agreed the deposit would be refundable should he not come to my shop to purchase said Syncro Camper.
- He later sent and an email requesting that I take the vehicle across the border and make a false declaration to US Customs about why the vehicle is entering the USA. ( He later claimed he did not make these claims but self incriminated himself by including in his feedback to me all emails- should one care to read, you'll find them there)
- Has hounded me on my feedback to return his $. I chose not based on principle. He broke his WORD, not me. All you had to do here Roger was say Sorry and accept that your $100 was spent.

*** I would highly suggest anyone considering doing any business with this person to give pause. He does not keep his word. He's clearly vindictive. He ignores and manipulates the FACTS to suit his own narrative. I'm very sorry to have ever made any sort of contact with this person. ***

I'm not angry at all Roger. If anything I'm a bit sad. You gave me your word during our HOUR long video chat. You broke your word. When I grew up both my Grandfathers and my parents instilled in me the importance of keeping your word- to the best of your ability. Not only did you break your word, you've also twisted the facts to suit your own narrative. Then you defamed me calling me the liar which is ironic because anyone curious enough to read the email string you posted can read the FACTS and it isn't me who is the liar in this interaction. Saying a lie over and over doesn't magically make it the truth Roger. It's ironic that you gave me your word, broke your word and got your $100 deposit back and that I am somehow the liar and that you didn't steal from me.

If the shoe was on the other foot and you were the seller. I would've handled this very differently. If I were unable to make the purchase due to circumstances that were due to my own situation. I would've informed you and then I would've walked away. You keep the $100 because I know that I gave you my word, I didn't hold up my end of our accord and that you invested time into trying to make a sale happen.

Instead you have chosen to behave in a very low Brow and Vile manner. This will be the last time that I indulge you with a reply.
