|
|
I have been thinking about building a couple of repop Ghia tachometers to offer for sale here on the Samba. They would be similar to the one I made for my own Ghia, like this:
But the gauge face would be more along the lines of a stock tach. What do you guys think? Is there any interest out there?[/img] |

| Don't know yet, but I'm thinking in $200.00 to $250.00 range. I read a couple other topics in the Ghia forum on this, and everyone said that would be a decent price if someone were to reporduce these. Once I figure out how much time I have in it I'll have a better idea. I didn't keep track of time when I made mine because, well, it was for me. |

If you can do it near that price range I'm sure you would sell a few, most of the others I've seen have $400 to $500 into them. If it's a good quality piece you can add me to the "I'm interested" list.

Count me in - are there actually other similar products (original look) on the market? _________________ 1960 Karmann Ghia

You could go with North Hollywood Speedometer. This is Thom's tach - I've seen this one in person and it's damn near perfect. Of course, you get what you pay for. I think this one cost around $400.

I'm getting there. We had a cold snap here and I haven't gotten out to the garage to work on them much. I have one about halfway done right now. I'll keep you all posted. |

perfect does not exactly translate into correct looking. that tach looks awesome, but it has the wrong needle on it. I have never seen that needle on an unrestored ghia tach, and I have seen dozens of ghia tachs. _________________ .

HOLY MOLY!! Thanks for the interest, everyone. I'm working to get a few made right now and will post them as soon as they are complete. Please keep in mind that I work on these after work, between t-ball, cutting the grass, washing the dog, working on my Ghia and whatever else life hands me, so please be patient. I'm not a production facility, just a guy with a garage and a bitchin' set of tools. |

| What is the size of the Tach? I think I'd buy one but of course have to cut and drill for it in out '70. |

The hole would have to be 4.25". It fits in the clock opening of a 66 and earlier Ghia. |

I like it it, but I think the red numbers don't "flow" well.
