I have a 71 SB that some one took the ignition switch out of and just left the wires there also the fuse box is a mess. I was just wondering if there was a easy way to get the engine running without rewiring the entire thing I just want to here it run so I will know if the engine is any good. Thanks

Hook up a wire from the positive side of the battery to the positive on the coil...(says 15 on a bosch coil)
the one with the wires that go over to the carb soleniod and choke.... not the side that has the condeser wire plugged on it...
Then with the car blocked and sure it's IN NEUTRAL slide under and jump the starter motor with and old screwdriver( or a clip on mechanics testing starter button if you know someone with one) while someone works the throttle lever.... maybe pour a shot of gas down the carb ect....
I don't know what your skill level is so I'm sorry if I am throwing out some obvious stuff.... good luck....

Keith: I am not that familiar with superbeatles ,but don't the supers have the connector under the back seat for the starter switch wire like the regular beatles so you can disconnect it and jumper it to the battery to engage the starter without getting under the car?

"It's also possible to use the red wire in the grey sheath with the clearish plastic connector that goes through the back of the pan near the metal brake line.... separate the conection there and jump it to the battery and the starter will engage...")

Well... I wasn't sure and that would not have been nearly as much fun as giving you a hard time at the same time. Smile
