ok!, I cant figure it out, I replace a throw out bearing each time i turn on my car!!! I was told that my clutch cable was to long,NOT true,then i was told my cable was to tight, AGAIN NOT TRUE!!! i put a new 17ooKEP clutch on it,then i was told to put a GERMAN made bearing, I did!, broke easier than the other 1s, can any 1 help me, I NEED TO GET THIS BABY ON THE ROAD AGAIN, thanks VW lovers (ps, its a 73 super) |

Make certain that you have the correct T.O. bearing ie. the late one that slides onto the sleeve on the tranny input shaft...I have heard of suppliers telling people that the early T.O. bearing will also work, which it won't.
If this is not the problem, then perhaps the clutch cable bowden tube needs repair. Good luck tracking down your problem. |

Check to see if the clutch tube has broken loose. When you depress your clutch cable make sure it's quiet and listen to see if there is a metal scraping noise coming from inside the tunnel either even with the pedals or at the e-brake handle area.The metal that mounts the clutch tube may be broken causing your problems and will make this noise if it is. Also check where the tube is welded to the tunnel under the reat inspection plate to see if that one is still attatched. Good luck. |
