I have a 1965 Westfalia SO-42.

There are small, circular, clear rubber self adhesive pads in between each louvered window pane to prevent rattle and movement of the glass within the frame.

Does anyone know any distributors please? Wolksburg west have no idea where to get them either Sad

Regards

The real ones are not clear they are black and have no adhesive.

They are black? Very interesting.
Mine looked gray.
I just went and cut into one of the brittle old pads that I removed and saved. It appears to be gray, all the way through.

Vintage Trailer also describes the pads as gray rubber. Jim Ellis describes the pads as "grey rubber" in his jalousie restoration article in the Type2.com archives. http://www.type2.com/library/exterior/splitjal.htm.

Are yours black? Any other site users have black pads in your window assemblies and have reason to believe they are original?

Thanks.

Mine were a charcoal color when i pitched them. If memory serves me right Ronnie got his from Hehr. I'm not going to lose sleep over black or dark grey though.

I did just notice last night while installing them that his "set" is short a lot of them. Each window takes 12 not 6.

Adhesive would be nice I guess but not necessary. They are a solid tube and not a cone shaped.

Sean, my windows only have 6--one on each end of the three panes of pivoting glass, right behind the little tang that sticks out on the back side of the pivot.

It appears to me that during manufacture, the pivots were installed in the frame, then the glass was slid into the pivots, then the bumpers were pushed in, and finally the tangs were bent toward the glass to varying degrees in order to hold them securely.

Where are your six additional pads? Photos?

I agree with you that adhesive serves no purpose other than to collect dirt.

Seems like a lot of trouble to go through when you can get a bus's worth for the price of a ham sandwich.

You don't have upper and lower tangs? 4 per pane.

Mine only have one tang, about halfway up the back side. Very interesting! One more data point, I guess.

If you're not in a hurry I will send you the extra material you will need to make the additional pads you need. I have more than I need to make the 30 pieces that my bus will require. I haven't cut the piece up yet but with a few minutes, a beer and a razor blade, I can change that.

Sounds like a evening in Spokane!

I'm in no hurry- I bought them from Ronnies last year and just did two windows yesterday!

Alright dude. I'll let you know when I've cut them all up. It would be a good thing to do when I'm watching TV or something.
