|
|
Small nearby town has an annual townwide yardsale. Hit it this morning. One of my first stops scored a used, but in good working order mig for $40. Guy that owns it is a mechanic at a car dealer where my one daughter is working. Good guy and no issues with it- he just needed a bigger one. Will weld up to 1/4".
One of my "in the middle" stops. Used 30PICT carb $5. Not in real bad shape. Havent had a chance to mess with it yet.
One of the last stops - almost new Delta benchtop belt sander. $30.
Now - here's the thing - I don't weld, BUT that was my "next skill to learn" for the upcoming project and was planning to pick this stuff up in the next month or two. Only thing I need yet is a chop saw.
But, I did drop $360 after yard saling for an argon tank (bigger one), welding helmet, gloves, wire, extra tips and some clamping pliers, etc. But hell, I even made a couple welds that didnt look bad this afternoon. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone 1914. Ex wifes car.

Is always fun explaining the wife how a $40 buy needs $300 in accessories lol.
Have fun with the "new" equipment.

I agree it was meant to be. I had farmed out metalwork before and really really wanted to learn how to weld and do some fabrication. Wife has been after me to build her another car for the last year and I had been dragging my feet. She already has a 61 cal look and a buggy, plus her SUV and I have my 2 VWs and my Subaru and the pickup. So we really need another one
Well, I just found this stuff at the yard sale, found the perfect car this morning and picking it up next weekend - so I guess I have to start planning and open the wallet ....... _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone 1914. Ex wifes car.

You don't have to good at welding, you just have to be good at grinding... _________________ Joey
