| 175/70R-15 tires were the original size for the 1973 Sport Bug. They went with the special 5.5Jx15 wheels. I can't seem to locate tires this size. Does anyone have a suggestion as to where I might find this size tire? I know that I can use 165R-15 but I would like to use the original size if they are available. Thanks! |

Use 185 65 15 or 195 65 15 a common size for VW Passat 99-2002.
Go to www.tirerack.com and have fun.
http://www.coker.com/ may have the exact tire you want, but you'll pay $$$.
Good Luck

Thank you. I tried Coker and they didn't have the 175/70's and I agree that their prices are very high.
The 185/65-15 is about 4/10 of an inch wider than the 175/70 and nearly an inch wider that the 165's. Will these hit the fenders or suspension components during turning? Right now my car is under going a pan off restoration and I can't try to judge by looking at the clearance with the 165's.
Thanks.

You can fit up to a 215mm wide tire on the front of a Super, although I prefer a 195 or 205.
