|
|
General information:
By default, Samba ads run for 90 days.
TheSamba.com does not allow the re-posting of the same vehicle or part(s) but we do allow you to renew your ad every 14 days, which pops it up to the top of your ad category.
When ads are renewed, they pop to the top of the listings. It also keeps your ad running for 90 days from the date of renewal.
Ads in the Classifieds can currently be renewed once 14 days have passed from either:
1. The original date the ad was posted
2. The date since the ad was last renewed
Once 14 days have passed, a little message will appear under the Last Updated date in your Classifieds Manage screen.
Example:
When you see this message appear, you can either:
1. Edit the Ad - No actual changes are needed, just enter the edit screen and press Edit Ad
or
2. Click Renew under the ad in your Manage screen
or
3. Use the Mark check boxes seen above combined with the drop-down box at the bottom of your Manage screen to renew your ad(s).
Notes:
1. The 14 days includes the time. For example, in the ad above, the little message will not appear until 10:59 am or later on the 14th day.
2. Renew appears in the dropdown box at the bottom of the Manage no matter what - attempting to renew an ad that is not 14 days old will be ignored.
Renewal Tips:
I recommend people renew 5-10 ads at once MAX.
This ensures your ads are:
1. Not skipped over in mass
2. People don't get annoyed and block you from the listings
3. I have found it's more effective to repost ads a few at a time each day. I make more sales on more parts this way, often from ads I did not renew that day.
Restoring deleted ads:
- I am the only one who can undelete ads.
- The primary reason for this would be if you accidentally deleted your ad. Email me a link to the ad and I will restore it.
- The secondary reason would be if you have an ad that has expired after 90 days and you would like to continue running the older ad.
Email me to get it restored at [email protected]
- If it expired after 90 days, it is ok to repost it as a new ad. This is the one exception to reposts.
- Why am I the only one who can undelete ads? Because otherwise the jerks who try to post the same ad every few days could undelete the reposts I removed.
When are older ads deleted?
I perform a clean up of any ad that has not been renewed in 90 days every Monday morning, California time. _________________ How to Post Photos

I removed that to discourage people from renewing a whole page of ads at once, which is totally annoying.
I recommend people renew 5-10 at once MAX. This ensures your ads are:

Is there a way to bring back "deleted" ads? They're all still saved under "deleted" but I dont see any way to post them back to the classifieds. |

I am the only one who can undelete ads.
The only reason for this would be if you accidentally deleted something (it happens). Email me link(s) to the ad(s) and I will take care of it.

I would like to know how to repost a deleted ad. There doesn't seem to be a way to do it from the deleted item page. I have read all the FAQs and searched everywhere for the answer. Can anyone help me? Thank you. |

What do you think about being able to save an ad as a draft so you can complete it at a later date? Then when you finish it, release it as a new ad. I know you can already create a partial ad then deactivate it immediately for later release, but then you miss out on the coveted "New Ad" status.
Sometimes I am creating an ad and realize I need a better photo that I can't take right away. It would be nice to be able to save most of the ad so you can quickly finish it later. _________________

A "preview" has been requested in the past but it's not an easy thing to add to the site so I haven't looked at it.
Draft is sort of different in that the ad would be "placed" but in draft mode so not visible except to you.
I will think about what is involved in that.
Deactivation
You are correct about it deactivating it immediately.
Example: Activating it an hour later puts it an hour down in the listings; it won't be on top. If it's car this might not matter due to limited ads but parts might be an issue if a lot of other parts get posted in that category.
Note:
Posting something and immediately deactivating it is sort of a bad idea for another reason:
All the classifieds alert emails still get sent out so anyone who gets an email notification will see your ad is deactivated and may think it's already pending/sold. _________________ How to Post Photos

I realized I never explained why this is true.
Reason(s):
As the admin, I often delete duplicate ads / reposts / scam ads that are on the site.
I would not want these users to be able to restore these ads that are deleted for administrative reasons.
The solution is that no one can undelete an ad.
Yes, this creates more admin work for me sometimes but it's minimal. _________________ How to Post Photos

Hello,
I am aware of you being the only one to repost ads. I would like to know if you would repost ad #1718622 for me. Thanks so much for your services.

I restored it for you.
Since it is an older ad that I think got deleted for being over 90 days old, you need to renew it or it will expire again next Monday.
General admin note:
Why next Monday?
I currently only remove ads over 90 days old once/week - every Monday morning my time. _________________ How to Post Photos
