I bought this rear bumper yesterday and I noticed it has different layers of paint on it.

As you can see the original paint is there, however, it and I tried to remove the paint using easy off in spray as I did with my bus. However, the layer of paint is thicker than I tought and is almost impossible to get rid of it. I’m afraid of use paint remover and screw up the original paint.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

You might use a coarse sander and scuff the gloss of the green-looking enamel that was applied by brush. The idea is to give the chemical stripper a little extra "bite."

I recently did this to both my front and rear bumpers. I used Oven Cleaner from the 99cent store and 0000 steel wool.

I'ts a slow and painful process. I probably spent 10 hours over 4 days scrapping. I will say it is worth the effort.
