Hi,
I ordered the front door seal replacement kit (Germain made) from CIP1. I know that my Bus has already been repainted, meaning that it was completely dismantled by someone who was clearly not a professional. I have the impression that several clips will probably be missing when I take the seals apart. As I want to reassemble my doors correctly I would like to be sure I have all the parts before starting disassembly. I don't want to have my bus in pieces for weeks because of a missing clip... So I want to have everything in stock. Can anyone tell me if I'm missing something?

-FELT CHANNEL CLIPS (111837421)= 2x
-FELT CHANNEL RETAINING (111837361) = 12x
-RIVET FOR UPPER VENT PIVOTS (171837647b) = 2x
-WASHER FOR UPPER VENT PIVOTS (111837637) = 2x
-DDOR PANEL CLIP BOOT SEALS (361867425) = 50x
-DOOR PANEL CLIP (N143781) = 50x

Thanks
Etienne

It all looks right to me quantity-wise. A couple notes:

• the German door seals (the one between door and body) tend to be very tight, to the point of making it impossible for the doors to close properly. This issue seems to be almost universal and is probably caused by a combination of the seal itself being a little too thick in spots and also the material is too hard especially on the front between the door and a-pillar. Recommend the Airhead door seals which CIP1 also sells

• re-use the felt channel retaining clips as much as possible. They fit better than the reproductions. The little hooks on the old ones will want to break off but if they are not broken they work better than new ones

• re-use if possible the old clips for the door scrapers, they work better than the repops. Especially the long one-piece ones for the inner scraper

I just replaced the door cards on my 78 Type 2. I bought extra clips and boots from either CIP 1 or Bus Depot. These were larger in diameter than the originals. You have to either drill out the holes in the door or use pliers to squeese down the clips, diameter-wise, to fit the hole. CPI 1 or Bus Depot does offer the correct size small clips and boots for a higher price.
