Could someone tell me if a 2110cc motor is too much for Dell 40 DRLAs. I already have the carbs, so it would save some money to go toward building the engine.
Thanks

not really too much engine, I think the dells flow better than the webber's anyways, I have heard people say Dell 40s' flow like weber 44's, but I have never tried a back to back comparison.
It's not like it won't work, maybe a liitle less top end though. |

you could also knife edge the throttle butterflys and innner venturi support arms.
it's an old trick from the race track.just means that carb will flow a bit more.
if u really go to town on a carb then you end up cutting the front side of the throttle butterfly spindle away and the solid inner venturi support arm and make everything as smooth as poss.
of course these mods will work best at higher RPM's. |

I was steered into Webbers when rebuilding my other VW engine. The mechanic's concern was parts availablity for Dells. It was his notion Dell'orto (sp?) was out of business.
True or false?
Is there a primer anywhere with that butterfly modification illustrated, etc? |

you can still get Dell parts, CB sells parts, a bunch of other places. A lot of parts from the Weber IDF line work as well |

40 mm dells have main ventures that you can change (as well as the 36-45@ 48s). The 40s come with a smaller venturie 32or34s . You can go up to 38mm which is BIG. You would have to go bigger on your main jets @ air correction jets.CB Perf.has all the carb.parts you'll ever need. They also have a book with the formulas you'd need for jeting ect. Forget about feathering your butterflies, unless it's a drag car @ you want every ounce of power. That would only help wide open. |
