Hey whenever i let of the gas and coast in gear or am giving it a constant throttle at a lower rpm my car pops. its kinda like a half backfire. i have a 1970 squareback with a 1641cc with dual weber icts, and i am running a stinger. we just rebuilt the carbs and tuned them. my car is timed right and everything. i checked for exhaust leaks. i am stumped. any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi paul,
I'm not a mechanic, but since you say you've checked for exhaust leaks, what about vacuum leaks around the intake manifolds? A better bet would be clogged idle jet, timing incorrect, or perhaps you are running a little too lean. Have you checked your spark plugs after a high rpm shut down?
