I was wondering what people think is the best door and window rubber to purchase for a 1970 Bus? I have a JBugs catalog and they guarantee their rubber for life ...even normal wear and tear. Sounds pretty sweet, but was wondering if someone has another idea?

Thanks,
sean

I use Wolfsburgh West. Everything I bought a couple years ago was original VW & the windshield seal fits awesome & I also got thier chrome moulding for it. Not sure if the rubber ws german or brazil any more but all was good quality.

There is a recent post on M&T with a link. Not sure of the quality but prices look good.

Jbugs is not a restoration oriented supplier so anythng you get is just going to be cheap with out any concern for fitment or quality.

Give WW a holler, may cost more but quality parts & the service is EXCELLENT> They warehouse there own parts so your order is not delayed from something needed from an outside source. In stock means they have in the building...

But I should be recieving them soon and ill let you guys know how good they are.

I got all my body + window rubber from BD; with the exception of windshield rubber from oeveedub.

All rubber from BD was good except for one - figures its the right side rearmost window behind the westy closet and wood/curtain panel. The rubber cracked at all four corners within 8 months and I store my bus under cover - all other rubber is good and subjected to the same elements, so it is clear to me that I got a bum seal. I'll have to remove at least the cabinet and panel - maybe the bed too to replace this seal, not to mention the sliding door track cover and that beading. I chose to go with oeveedub to replace this seal, but it is on backorder through them.

Good luck.

Seems like nobody knows much about JBugs and the rubber they sell. Can anyone beat a lifetime warranty even for normal wear and tear? I do appreciate the suggestion for WW. Seems like they know the restoration business. Thanks for all the input.

I am wondering if it is necessary to pay over $70 for for an "OEM" windshield rubber seal; or if the $16 to $22 ones are equally as good. The $74 one is from German Supply, #211 845 121 DGR. The other one is # 211 845 121 D, from several vendors. Thanks.

We have OEM German ones for $39.95:

They are definitely better than aftermarket and I do recommend them.

Does anyone know of a place that I can get a new windshield and new louvered window for the side, aside from a salvage yard? thanks!
