Will these headlights fit a 69? Also, are overriders an easy install? I know anything is possible but, I don't want to cobble anything up?

Yeah, bugs are the 'Mr Potato Head' of cars
Fenders should swap out.

The overriders in the pic are part of the earlier bumpers.

You can find latemodel bumper gaurds that imo look quite nice like this from the gallery -

There's are also these things - https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=692431

CIP and others sell the conversion brackets for mounting early bumpers to latemodel bugs - https://www2.cip1.com/searchresults.asp?Search=bumper+bracket%2C+early

Friendly neighbor gave me a pair of '67-ish bumpers and I used a set of those to mount them on my '70

Great! Thanks for the help!! Didn't know the brackets existed.
I saw the more modern uprights. They don't look too bad.

As mentioned - been done a lot. Big problem I have with most is how they deal with the bumpers. Some of the converison brackets look like shit IMHO. Reall not that hard to open up slots for "proper looking" bumper brackets in early fenders. You do have to work on the mounting a bit, but it can be done very well.

That being said, I have a variety of early bumpers done on several of our cars. the 61 had over riders, but the 65 just has bumper guards on a blade. One being a backdated 69 with just a smooth blade.

The 65

I was at a show and looked at the early bumper/late car conversion brackets and that is what made me modify the fenders. I finished that car on 2011, so I dont remember if we just modified stock early brackets or made new one. The hole spacing was off at the bumpers and had to deal with that, but its not that hard to do.
