I bought a new unused T-4 camshaft from a guy on ebay who said he couldn't remember much about it. It came with a new bolt on gear. There is a shop near by that can tell me the specs but is there some way to know if it is a solid lifter cam or a hydraulic lifter cam. The only # on the cam itself is EP93 with a blue dot. GEX says a yellow dot indicates hyd and Webcams says the blue dot indicates Hyd. Is there really a way to tell or did I waste my $15. Any help.

it is an aftermarket cam, but the ep93 is on almost all aftermarket cams because pretty much everyone who makes type 4 cams uses the same blanks. look closely at the nose of the cam where the gear attaches and see if there are any stamped numbers.

I have checked and rechecked for any makings at all. The only other marks on it are the letters CWC which are between two of the lobes just as the EP93 markings are. There are no stampings of any kind on the gear end of the shaft. Thanks,

A blue dot on an early European Motorworks camshaft indicates a stock grind solid lifter cam. The specs should determine a lot, lift, duration overlap and ramp. With all of those the application can be determined including whether the cam is for solid or hydro's. Unfortunately in the end you may never know who made the cam.
