My name is Kevin from Memphis. On 2-7-19 I paid dons bus box 3000.00 dollars for a rebuilt transmission.

Dons bus box shipped the transmission on the next Monday. Dons bus box sold me a transmission for a 1984 auto Vanagon. When I receive the auto transmission the linkage had be ground off. Don told me that is the way v w made them.

We came to a agreement on the missing linkage, don refunded me 400.00 . 200.00 was so I could cut the linkage off my old transmission and weld it on to dons rebuilt transmission. The other 200.00 was for the two Vanagon auto transmission that I had. He sent ups to pick them up we put off the pick up because when I installed my rebuilt motor and transmission the transmission
leaked fluid from the front seal.

I had my van towed to Coleman Taylor transmission 901-754-2832 it took them 3 weeks to get to my van. The torque converter seal was installed to far back and it is leaking transmission fuild from between the auto and def section.

I have tried calling don serval times. My call go straight to voice mail. I have left serval messages but no call back.

I have posted some of the photos. I will post the estimated of 803.24 cent to repair dons rebuilt auto transmission. I would have taken time off work and done the work myself, but don was blaming me for the problem. I waited to see what the shop said was the problem. Dons needs to refund me the 800.00 dollars and send ups to pick up his transmissions. I do think don blocked me

Sorry to hear of your problems. Dons gets a number of great reviews and a few like yours.

I sure hope this gets worked out. This old car biz can get tricky.

Sounds like a real bummer. Some of these long distance handshakes go South really hard and fast. I believe there are some folks here who recommend doubling up the TC seals, so there are two seals up there sandwiched together. That throttle lever thing is weird. They had to have known that was funky.

Don's Bus Box review/feedback thread dating back to 2008: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=329360 .

Oddly, this place isn't all too terribly far from me, yet I've never heard of it. Confused

I still have not heard from dons bus box. I went to Colman Taylor transmission today. They are repairing the two leaks now. No van for 2 months now, this is my Daly driver. The inside of dons bus box transmission looked good and clean, I have not driven it yet.
