|
|
Has anyone had any problems with the West Coast Metric wood grain dash covers fitting poorly. I have a ‘74 with an unmolested dash that’s getting one. It fits the gauge holes and speaker cutout fine, as well as the radio hole, but the glove box cutout is about 1/8” too narrow. I’ve called WCM and KGPR and both say no problems with the dash cover. Ordered a second one and better, but still off at the glove box. Also, a bit concerned about the amount of dust on the new part after WCM telling me they’ve sold over 100 with no complaints. Am I missing something? Do I need to heat it up in the sun? At a loss…..
Any help/thoughts would be appreciated. |

too narrow? Meaning the molded indentation in the woodgrain-plastic cover is smaller than the opening in the dashboard in general? I suppose, maybe.
I made some relief-cuts and (using a heat gun and heavy gloves) heat-formed the plastic, folding it back on itself through the dash opening. I just assumed that this was how it was meant to be installed. Same for the woodgrain cover of the glovebox lid... heatformed around the edges of the metal part. _________________ '71 Ghia coupe |

The distance from the other openings to the glove box opening mold. I have some pictures. These are with the glove box aligned properly. The dash cover shifts on the pod opening. I might try some mild heat with a heat gun.
