I was pretty smug in my comments a while ago in the General Forum about all the great sellers I have dealt with on the Samba. I must have had good luck but I have two sellers now with non responses. Here is the first ad below, and he just placed some ads yesterday. Maybe an email doesn't count as a jingle? Laughing I know that F.I. tin is harder to come by, but just respond and say you don't have it if that is the case.

Engine Tin Galore! Price: Varied
You need tin for your motor? We have lots of tin. Original tin, not that cheesy new stuff. Which piece do you need? Give us a jingle. We probably have it! Still more pictures available at your request. Just couldn't get it all on this page.

Got a reply today to my follow-up email, they even sent some pics. I am looking for F.I. tin but unfortunately it was pre-F.I. that they were trying to sell me. I did specify what I was looking for and they just wanted hock what they had.

It was courteous reply and I did appreciate the attempt at least.

Dear Paul D:

We are truly sorry you feel your experience with Sparky's Vee-Dub, (hereinafter referred to as "Sparky's"), was less than stellar.

The fact that Sparky's didn't respond to you within 24 hours, your feedback remarks lead a person to believe you consider that bad form. Maybe Sparky's was closed for the week-end. Maybe Sparky's was busy working on customer's vehicles that week. It's hard to say at this point. Customers vehicles in our shop will always be our number one priority.

Evidently, Sparky's DID indeed respond to your request in a timely manner.

The fact that Sparky's did not have exactly what you were seeking to purchase doesn't necessarily equate to attempting to "hock" something. We do know what Fuel Injection tin is. We work on Fuel Injected vehicles on a pretty regular basis. We would never intend to try to sell you the wrong tin. It must have been a misunderstanding.

If you felt so strongly about the fact that your request was not responded to immediately or that your request for a certian part was specific, you did have the option to call Sparky's on the telephone to discuss these issues. I have no doubt that we would have been able to resolve any and all of your requests with a telephone call.

Sparky's telephone number is on every ad we place on the Samba and anyone is welcome to call to speak with a live person, in fact, it is encouraged. Email is not responded to as quickly as a telephone call. Hence the term in the subject ad, stated in part, "give us a jingle."

Sparky's Vee-Dub is an automotive repair shop, specializing in the repair and restoration of air-cooled Volkswagens and not necessarily in the sales of used parts. If we happen to have an excess of parts, need room in our shop or helping a customer, we do offer parts on the Samba from time to time.

Once again, we are sorry your experience with Sparky's Vee-Dub was not considered stellar in your opinion. It's customers like you that make us strive to be a better business.

Thank you for your opinion.

Ok phone calls from now on to all if dealing with "Sparky's".

I would like to clarify the email time line, not this post time line which I believe you are referencing as your 24 hour response.

Original email request sent on 8/5/07
Sent a followup email 8/17/07
Received a response 8/18/08

Regarding the tin, I don't think I could have been any clearer on the tin I requested. Here is an excerpt from my email request:

"I am looking for the right hand upper cylinder tin for a dual port fuel injected 76 Type 1. My current tin is just hanging together by some rust, I would be interested in the upper left if you have it too. Repops are only made up to 74 as far as I can figure. They are squared off, and late models are more rounded. Used is just fine with me, and I really don't need it painted."

Here are pictures that you sent me and wanted to sell me.

That doesn't look like F.I. tin to me, but maybe I wasn't clear enough.

If you are interested I can send you the email thread for you own review.

Sincerely - Paul D

I wanted that one last special thing to get my bus ready for the upcoming Dead tour and thought I'd try a custom steal your face tire cover.....

Found Sparky's Vee-Dub's ad for custom tire covers but didn't see anything quite as complex as a steal your face, but Ilene seemed game...actually she seemed pumped at the prospect of doing something really artistic and custom.....

Well lemme tell ya...the three words that first came to my mind when i saw this were quality, art, and custom.....

This tire cover is quality....strings around the rear to tie it so it's super tight...(quality enough that I'm going to get a plain one for when i'm not on tour)...different colors are all stitched on....well....on top of other colors...each intricate part of the design is spot on.....

Communication was great...I even got a phone call or two to let me know how it was going or that it was about to be shipped....kept me pretty excited.....

Now, this wasn't a cheap $20 cover....but I base somethings worth on the product I get.....When I heard $145 for a well done steal your face tire cover, I thought for four colors, and knowing that they're doing mine from scratch was about worth it....Seeing the quality of the cover itself, then adding the quality of the worksmanship.....holy crap it was so worth it. The more I think about the time this must have taken, then plus materials...I'm amazed it's not more....

I'll be back with pics in a bit...unfortunately the bus is at the shop Razz so I'll add a pic or two of it on when I get the westy back....

I was going to let it go...but all I can say is I will never, ever buy from these guys.
First I get a real bad vibe off their borderline rude emails.
after several emails I just say forget it.
now the Obviously rude emails come in,why after some one decides not to buy that item because there is a misunderstanding going on would you send two more rude emails?
what was the point of that?
I have saved the emails and will send them to anyone who asks.
PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL ME ANYMORE!!!!
